3 days Star Proud to be Greek
The plates were breaking at Hamilton's Hellenic Community Hall
Hamilton - Wednesday, September 4, 2002 - is when 3 Days wraps up its second stage of production. 3 Days starring Hamilton's own John Savidis, local entrepreneur, businessman and 1998 US Open World Champion is also the executive producer of the feature film. John's character is a Greek American kick boxer who lives in New York and came to America at a young age, following the death of his mother. John holds on to his traditional Greek values maintaining a strong work ethic, integrity, compassion and honesty.
This past Wednesday, Hamilton's own Hellenic Community Hall on Head street is where a traditional Greek Wedding was shot for the movie. It was a "natural choice" for MOE; President of Hamilton based MOE-TION Picture Productions and the producer and director of the independent feature film. Savidis who grew up in Hamilton is a member of St.Dimitris and has attended many celebrations at the adjoining Hall.
Hamilton's Hellenic community is very proud of Savidis and all that his family has given to the community. John Kartas, President of the Hellenic Community of Hamilton District (he is also one of the characters in the wedding ceremony) explains why the Hall was made available for the movie … "John's Greek, and the Hellenic community is very proud of John. John fights, but for all the right and just reasons. John and his family give to our community and we our honoured to be able to support John and the movie 3 Days … John's father, Chris, is well known in this community both as a Greek Orthodox chanter and local businessman."
Next Wednesday, at a private house in Stoney Creek, the last of John's childhood reflections of Greece will be shot. As with all of John's childhood memories, his fourth birthday party scene will be illustrated with Super 8 mm format complimented with narration. And once again, the Hamilton Hellenic community will be drawn upon … many of the children who perform traditional Greek recitals at the aforementioned Hall will be taken out of school to be in the film.
